Having had a very short vacation tagged to a business trip, I have decided to look for a tranquil spot not too far from the Bali airport and still experience a luxurious beach vacation and therefore Jimbaran beach was chosen. In hindsight I wish I had more than two nights in this fabulous resort complex of Ayana Bali as you need a good few days to cover all the themed resorts in this complex. Technically its not one resort but four separate structures connected by a shuttle ride with the freedom to experience all facilities and breakfast areas in the entire complex. So its big... and honestly speaking when I booked it, it was rather vague which of the resorts you are actually booking a room in so here is tip # 1. Double check the fine print in your reservation which type of room is associated with which of the four sub resorts. They are all gorgeous but if you are looking for a sea view than go for the “Ayana Bali Resort”. Having not had this information earlier I found myself booked in the “Ayana Bali Segara”. The Segara complex was a bit more budget friendly and still having all the luxury facilities making a perfect stay such as its own pool, restaurants and roof top bar.
Resort Facilities tip: It is super easy to move between the four different resorts in the complex. I have made use of the freedom and tried two different breakfast themes, visited the 14 different pools including the marvelous infinity pool of the Ayana Bali resort as well a heated seawater therapy pool. Make sure you also book in advance front row seats for sunset at the famous Rock bar. If those are not enough you can also take a short funicular ride down to Kubu beach and enjoy a drink as you breath in the sea air. For earth lovers, the tour of the Ayana Farm, a 2-hectare sustainable organic farm was super fun. You even get to make your own tea bags!
Room Tip: When booking in your platform of choice make sure to read the fine print and choose the resort that fits best your stay of choice. The Ayana Bali Resort is the main structure closest to the sea while the other three (Ayana Bali Segara, Ayana Bali Villas & Ayana Bali Rimba) are not too far but not front row. This could have a benefit in form of lower cost depending on the time you book and each resort has its own style and theme. All resorts are beautiful!
Excursion Tip: To be really honest there is no good reason to leave the complex resorts however should you have the time and wish to travel not too far you can venture out around 30 minutes by car to “Uluwatu Temple”. The temple, perched on a 70-meter cliff, is one of the most famous and beautiful sea temples in Bali. If you are interested to also view the traditional sunset Kecak dance make sure you book tickets in advance! (I had not lucked out unfortunately). Another important tip is to keep all your belongings such as water bottles or sunglasses stored away in your bag to avoid being snatched by one of the many cheeky monkeys around.
