My Top 5 tips for any travel planning

This site was created as a personal project aimed to house a collection of my top pics for experiences and accommodations gathered in my travels in the last years. I have been often told that my travels inspire others and hope that this site will give insight into how I pick and why I picked these places. Important to note that for me it’s not only where you travel to but how you plan ahead and design your perfect stay. In that sense, a perfect stay can also be close to home.  For me it’s a combination that should be felt by all senses. It's not always the most expensive accommodation in the area but it always got character, design is clean, fine and it makes you want to stay forever. My top 5 important elements before any planned travel:

  1. Research and plan ahead the accommodation area and style- are you a city lover or a nature lover? What kind of a view would you like to see from your room window? Are you looking for an accomodation with a pool or spa or rather a smaller boutique option?

  2. Check all the room types both in your platform of choice and the hotel direct site. Sometimes the room names are different and you can compare via the pictures. Avoid surprises that will damage your experience. Some rooms are very small, some have no view or even no windows at all. If breakfast is important for you, make sure its included in your room of choice and total price.

  3. Write to the accommodation ahead of time if you have specific requests. I always ask for the highest floor available on the specific room category to avoid a blocked view or noise from the street. If you are celebrating an event let the hotel know, they might offer a nice welcome surprise in the room or further upgrade options as you arrive.

  4. Cross check recommendations from different platforms to avoid biased reviews. I have come across some accommodations that ask you bluntly to give them a high rating. I always stick to what I feel the accommodation deserves but not everyone acts the same. I normally check at least three different platforms (i.e google reviews, TripAdvisor) before I feel confident with my choice.

  5. Try to maximise the options with a free cancellation. You might find a better accommodation type, location or price on another site. This way you can be sure your final choice is the perfect one for you. Having said that, if you feel you have found the place of your dreams, many times you can book directly on the hotel site without cancellation but with a really good price.
